Third Saturday Open Mic Night @ EAC 4/16/16

Spectators and performers of all ages are invited to a new series at Eastport Arts Center, Third Saturday Open Mic Nights, which will debut on February 20. The event will be repeated March 19, April 16 and May 21. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted, and light suppers, tasty hot beverages and treats will be available for purchase. Entertainers of all types are encouraged to come sign up for a little time in the limelight: musicians, poets/readers, dancers, magicians, jugglers, balloon-artists, etc.! Time slots will range from 10 to 15 minutes, but shorter acts are also acceptable. Multi-instrumentalist Elijah Brice, an eighth-grader at Eastport Elementary School, will be emcee for the evenings, doing a mix of announcing acts and performing. Brice, with mother Manuela and father Colie, gave a special performance to back up Vera Francis’ Passamaquoddy Stories this past summer as part of the EAC’s Concert Series, is involved with the Eastport Elementary Pop Band and the Shead High School Jazz Band, and is currently in rehearsal for the Children’s Theater Workshop’s spring production.
Both monetary and food donations are welcome at the event. Please contact us in advance if you’re interested in bringing a baked treat or food item. Also, please call or email ahead if you have special sound needs for your act.
